Passing of former Board of Selectman Andrew Espinosa

It is with a sad heart that we share the passing of former Medway Selectman Andrew (Andy) Espinosa. Mr. Espinosa was an elected official on the Medway Board of Selectman from 2007-2012. Born and raised in El Paso, Texas, he spent thirty years moving around the country before moving back to his beloved home of Texas in 2018.

Andy held many accomplishments besides his elected role as a Selectman here in Medway. In his younger years, he could be found conducting the band while attending Bel-Air High School. He earned a bachelor’s degree from California State Fullerton and founded two startup companies.

In his adult years, he could be found coaching his daughters’ basketball team, golfing with friends, typing software code, or playing with the family beagle, Neo.  Andy was a fan of good music and good food, especially Mexican. Most of all, he enjoyed spending quality time with his family.

With a specialty in designing financial software, Andy was a methodical thinker who shined brightly during his Board of Selectmen campaign. At that time, Medway was experiencing financial hardship, and Mr. Espinosa’s campaign focused on a five-step program designed to help ease Medway’s fiscal woes and continue the progress the current board had made.

He focused on the operational structure of Town Hall with the intent of increasing financial checks and balances and creating an "environment of accountability," improving communication between departments, consolidating responsibility, and ultimately reducing costs.

The Town of Medway is very appreciative of Mr. Espinosa’s forward thinking. Because of people like him who have a vision and a plan, Medway is where it is now.

A memorial service for Andrew was held on Friday, November 3, 2023, at the Hillcrest Funeral Home in El Paso, Texas.
